The Greatest Story Ever Told…Kind of

When it first appeared in the Times Online, several readers sent us Gerard Baker’s column about Barry Obama’s visit to Europe. The form Baker’s satire took was truly inspired. Great was the temptation to post it despite our resolve of abstention regarding presidential politics until after the parties’ conventions. In the end, though, virtue won and we abstained from putting up that wonderful spoof.

But then this arrived, and temptation took the day and ran with it. The spoken word is definitely more powerful. Thus, a video of Mr. Baker reading his column:

“The anointed one’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a miracle in action - and a blessing to all his faithful followers…”

We now return to our regular programming.

Never has a man of so little accomplishment and brain and so full of himself been carried so adoringly on the ass that is the media.

I foregive thee the transgression of the non-Obama line!

And suggest reading City Journal, who runs an interesting analysis of the mechanisms at play here. Jonah Goldberg, of Liberal Fascism fame, says that article describes the situation better than he ever could.

It's rather creepy.

This video is disturbing and quite funny at the same time. Unfortunately, too many Americans with IQs' the size of a peanut are given the right to vote.

I've seen this video 5-6 times and still my sides are splitting with laughter. The cult of personality which surrounds Obama reminds me of the propaganda craziness which surrounded the Romanian dictator Ceausescu. The sad thing is that Ceausescu forced the people to praise him, whereas the followers of Obama and Obama himself use the same rhetoric freely... This mockery is like a wake up call. Politicians are not prophets.
